Bathroom Wall Art

The bathroom is one of the easiest places in the house to experiment and have a bit of fun. You can go elegant and sleek or style things more eclectically. Water and sea themes naturally work well here, as do playful animal prints and bright colours that pick up on your bathroom decor.

The bathroom deserves great art too, but you do need to think about how you display it. If you have a shower or bath, you’ll be dealing with more humidity, so properly framed artwork is important. If you’re framing it yourself, sealing the back with framer’s tape can help protect the artwork from moisture. Avoid hanging prints where they’re likely to come into direct contact with water or excessive steam, stay away from valuable originals and one-of-a-kind pieces, and make sure the bathroom is well ventilated.

Bathrooms don’t always have much spare wall space, so make use of the little areas you do have. A small framed print can work well on a shelf, while the wall above the toilet is another great spot and is often further away from steam and splashes than areas around the shower, bath or sink.

A single piece of art around two-thirds the width of the toilet cistern is a good starting point and helps keep everything in proportion. If you have more vertical space to fill, try a set of two or three prints stacked above one another.
